Fatherhood Initiative

The Fatherhood Program is designed to assist teen fathers with completing their high school education and to increase their awareness of the importance of fathers in the lives of their children.

Population Served
 
Teen fathers or expectant teen fathers who are enrolled in a PDE-approved educational program or working towards the HiSet/GED in Armstrong and Indiana Counties and neighboring districts.

Services Provided
•    Conducts anger management classes
•    Provides assistance to young men in preparing them to be in a position to establish
     or increase child support payments
•    Provides ongoing support through home visitation
•    Provides pre/post-natal education, health education, child development education,
     and nutrition education
•    Links participants/families with community services/resources
•    Assists parents in obtaining childcare and transportation
•    Offers career development activities
•    Offers workshops on self-esteem, decision-making, career opportunities, and
     post-secondary education/training
•    Provides individual and small group sessions
